Kaartverkoop Taptoe K&G bij DIOK gestart | In Breakdown van de vorige maand hebben we er al bericht over de unieke taptoe op DIOK. Hieronder volgt meer informatie, ook over de gestarte kaartverkoop.
Na een feestelijke streetparade door de historische binnenstad van K&G volgt in de avond van zaterdag 6 juni 2026 van de korpsen K&G, Door Vriendschap Sterk, Flora Band orkesten en Adest Musica, hun volledige WMC-shows in één spectaculaire avond.
De avond wordt ook opgeluisterd met een rugbydemonstratie van DIOK en wordt het voorprogramma door K&G3 verzorgd. Voor drinks and food is een sfeervol horecaplein ingericht. De avond wordt afgesloten met een feestelijke afterparty met de Coverband Back-Up.

| Oud versus Jong, een langlopende traditie | Op zondag 4 januari 2026 vindt onze jaarlijkse en traditionele Oud versus Jong huiswedstrijd plaats. KO 15:00. Na een uurtje spelen gaan we derde helft in om daarna toosten we op een prachtig en veelbelovend 2026! |

Vertrouwenscontactpersonen DIOK | Bij onze club moet iedereen zich veilig en welkom voelen. Daarom hebben we Vertrouwenscontactpersonen (VCP’s). Bij hen kun je terecht met zorgen over pesten, buitensluiting, ongewenst gedrag, grensoverschrijdend gedrag of situaties die simpelweg niet oké aanvoelen.
De VCP’s luisteren vertrouwelijk en zonder oordeel, denken mee over mogelijke stappen en verwijzen zo nodig door. Ze zijn een eerste aanspreekpunt en ondersteunen het bestuur in een veilige sportomgeving.
Voor spelers, ouders, trainers en vrijwilligers: twijfel je ergens over? Trek vooral tijdig aan de bel.

Lions: samen dienstbaar aan de samenleving en een connectie met DIOK | De Lions Clubs vormen wereldwijd de grootste goede-doelen-organisatie, met ruim 1,3 miljoen leden, verdeeld over bijna 50.000 clubs in meer dan 200 landen. Wat Lions verbindt, is de overtuiging dat je samen méér kunt betekenen voor de samenleving dan alleen. |

| Lions Leiden DIOK is een 'specialty club' die vanuit onze rugbyclub is opgericht om grotere betrokkenheid en continuïteit van ouders van jeugdleden én mensen die DIOK een warm hart toedragen, te bewerkstelligen. Het bleek dat er veel mensen goede doelen wilden steunen binnen DIOK en dat het leuk is als dat binnen een gezamenlijke club kan die ook sommige opbrengsten nog eens kan verdubbelen. |

Ook komen de kleuren overeen en daarnaast nog eens het leeuwenbeeldmerk. Deze DIOK Lions combineren de kernwaarden van rugby – teamgeest, respect en inzet – met het Lions-ideaal van 'We Serve". Lions Leiden DIOK zetten zich gezamenlijk in voor acties en evenementen waarbij sport en Leiden wordt ingezet als middel om iets goeds te doen voor anderen. Zo versterken zij niet alleen de band binnen de club, maar dragen zij ook concreet bij aan de samenleving rondom en binnen DIOK. Veel van deze activiteiten zijn gericht op fondsenwerving, waarbij de volledige opbrengst ten goede komt aan goede doelen (zoals Cardea, Hospice Xenia, Oekraïne, Stichting Matchis, Leiden Sportzomer), DIOK, Leiden en onze samenleving. Bij een kleine zogenaamde "Handen-uit-de-mouwen-Actie" op zondag 30 november hebben de Lions van DIOK een grote schoonmaakactie gehouden op onze club, binnen en buiten. Heel veel dank! Attentiecommissie (lief en leed) doet goed werk | Vorig jaar is de Attentiecommissie ingesteld met als doel aan leden vanuit de vereniging extra aandacht te besteden wanneer een lid een ernstige blessure oploopt of een bijzondere gebeurtenis in het leven meemaakt. Ook voor supporters en vrijwilligers. De belangstelling en attenties worden zeer gewaardeerd.
Vincent van Nistelrooij is namens de commissie de aangewezen persoon om dan mee in contact te komen. Meestal zijn het de teammanagers of trainers die Vincent informeren maar om te voorkomen dat we iemand missen: spreek hem aan op de club of stuur een email naar: attentie.commissie@diokrugby.nl. |

| Vanaf dinsdag 13 januari worden de bomen aan de waterkant van Veld 3 gerooid. Dit ter voorbereiding van de werkzaamheden voor aanleg van ons rugbykunstgrasveld op dit veld. Het gaat ca. 5 werkdagen duren en dan is het hele veld tijdelijk afgesloten. Het stalen hek en de leuning bij het pad zullen tijdelijk worden verwijderd. Graag hiermee rekening houden met de planning van de trainingen. |

Kort verslag ALV vergadering 16 december 2025 | De jaarrekening 2024-2025 is door secretaris Harjo Bakker (ten tijde van de looptijd penningmeester) toegelicht. De Kascommissie is akkoord. De vergadering heeft het bestuur decharge verleent onder voorbehoud dat de cijfers van de Club van 100 worden gecorrigeerd.
Vicevoorzitter Marcel Colijn heeft een toelichting op het proces van de vaststelling van het geheel nieuwe Huishoudelijk Reglement en het tuchtreglement, gegeven. Tot 1 april 2026 kunnen de leden inhoudelijk hierop reageren.
Tim Hudson geeft namens de groep Vertrouwenscontactpersonen een toelichting over dit onderwerp, zie eerder artikel hier.
Er volgt nog een presentatie door de vicevoorzitter van de ontwikkelingen van het multifunctioneel sportcomplex met wijkfuncties en een korte impressie-animatie van de XL-variant. Hieraan is in Breakdown Special van vorige week ook aandacht besteed.
De Communitycommissie stelt zich voor en geeft de stand van zaken weer met een vooruitblik op het koersplan en de insteek van een brede bevraging bij alle betrokkenen, binnen en buiten de vereniging. Uiteindelijk zullen de vragen van wat ons bindt en hoe we de gezamenlijke toekomst zien, worden beantwoord. |

| Aan het einde van het jaar blikken we graag even terug. 2025 was een jaar vol inzet, groei en mooie momenten voor onze club. Dat hadden we nooit kunnen realiseren zonder de steun van onze rugbyfamilie.
Onze dank gaat uit naar iedereen die zich met hart en ziel heeft ingezet: onze sponsors die ons mogelijk maken meer te doen dan zonder hun steun, de trouwe en loyale supporters die er altijd zijn, de spelers die met veel plezier en toewijding alles geven op het veld, de trainers, inzet van onze scheidsrechters, al dan niet op eigen veld, teammanagers, ouders, commissieleden en alle andere vrijwilligers die voor en achter de schermen onmisbaar zijn voor het functioneren van onze vereniging. Maar ook speciale dank aan de Leidse politiek die DIOK altijd een warm hart toedraagt.
Samen hebben we successen gevierd en geleerd van uitdagingen. Juist die gezamenlijke passie voor rugby en voor onze roemrijke en unieke club maakt ons sterker en verbindt ons, op én naast het veld.
Met vertrouwen en enthousiasme kijken we vooruit naar 2026. Een nieuw jaar vol kansen, sportieve uitdagingen en momenten die ons als rugbyfamilie nog dichter bij elkaar brengen. Het nieuwe jaar zal ook in het teken staan van ons lustrum, de acties en resultaten van de community commissie, de prachtige ontwikkelingen rond ons nieuwe kunstgrasrugbyveld en de verdere stappen in het waarmaken van onze grote ambitie voor een nieuw multifunctioneel clubhuis. DIOK bruist als nooit tevoren! Altijd samen, samen sterker

Ticket sales for the K&G Taptoe at DIOK have started | In last month’s Breakdown we already reported on the unique taptoe at DIOK. Below you will find more information, including details about the start of ticket sales.
After a festive street parade through the historic city centre by K&G, the evening of Saturday 6 June 2026 will feature the full WMC shows of K&G, Door Vriendschap Sterk, Flora Band Orkesten and Adest Musica—all in one spectacular night.
The evening will also include a rugby demonstration by DIOK, and the opening act will be provided by K&G3. A cosy food and drink area will be set up for refreshments. The night will conclude with a festive afterparty featuring coverband Back-Up.

DIOK Confidential Contact Persons | At our club, everyone should feel safe and welcome. That’s why we have Confidential Contact Persons (VCPs). You can approach them if you have concerns about bullying, exclusion, unwanted behaviour, inappropriate conduct, boundary-crossing behaviour, or situations that simply don’t feel right.
The VCPs listen in confidence and without judgement, think along with you about possible next steps, and refer you on if necessary. They are a first point of contact and support the board in maintaining a safe sporting environment.
For players, parents, coaches and volunteers: if you’re unsure about something, please speak up in time.

| Lions Leiden DIOK is a “specialty club” founded from within our rugbyclub to create greater involvement and continuity among parents of youth members, as well as people who care deeply about DIOK. It turned out that many people wanted to support charitable causes within DIOK, and that it’s enjoyable to do so within a shared club—one that can sometimes even double certain proceeds. |

The colours also match, as does the lion emblem. These DIOK Lions combine rugby’s core values—teamspirit, respect and commitment—with the Lions ideal of “We Serve”.
Lions Leiden DIOK jointly commit to campaigns and events where sport and the city of Leiden are used as a means to do good for others. In doing so, they not only strengthen the bond within the club, but also make a tangible contribution to the community around and within DIOK. Many of these activities focus on fundraising, with all proceeds going to good causes (such as Cardea, Hospice Xenia, Ukraine, Stichting Matchis, Leiden Sportzomer), DIOK, Leiden and our society.
During a small “roll-up-your-sleeves” action on Sunday 30 November, the DIOK Lions organised a major clean-up at our club, indoors and outdoors. Many thanks!

The Attention Committee (good and bad times) is doing great work | Last year, the Attention Committee was set up with the aim of giving extra attention—on behalf of the club—to members when someone suffers a serious injury or experiences a significant life event. This also applies to supporters and volunteers. The interest and gestures are greatly appreciated.

| From Tuesday 13 January, the trees along the waterside of Pitch 3 will be felled. This is in preparation for the works to install our artificial turf rugby field on this pitch. The work will take approximately five working days, and the entire pitch will then be temporarily closed. The steel fence and the railing along the path will be temporarily removed. Please take this into account when planning training sessions. |

Short report: General Members’ Meeting (ALV) – 16 December 2025 | The 2024–2025 annual accounts were explained by secretary Harjo Bakker (who was treasurer during the financial year). The audit committee has approved them. The meeting granted discharge to the board, on the condition that the figures for the “Club of 100” are corrected.
Vice-chair Marcel Colijn provided an explanation of the process for adopting the entirely new House Rules and disciplinary regulations. Members can submit substantive feedback until 1 April 2026.
On behalf of the group of Confidential Contact Persons, Tim Hudson gave an explanation of this topic; see the earlier article here.
A presentation by the vice-chair will follow regarding developments around the multifunctional sports complex with neighbourhood functions, including a short impression animation of the XL-variant. This was also covered in last week’s Breakdown Special.
The Community Committee introduced itself and shared the current status, with a look ahead to the strategic plan and the approach of a broad survey among all stakeholders, within and outside the association. Ultimately, the questions of what binds us and how we see our shared future will be answered. |

| At the end of the year, we like to take a moment to look back. 2025 was a year full of commitment, growth and great moments for our club. We could never have achieved that without the support of our rugby family.
Our thanks go to everyone who has devoted themselves wholeheartedly: our sponsors, who enable us to do more than we could without their support; the faithful and loyal supporters who are always there; the players who give their all on the field with enjoyment and dedication; the coaches; our referees, whether at home or elsewhere; teammanagers; parents; committee members; and all other volunteers who are indispensable behind the scenes for the running of our club. And special thanks as well to the Leiden political community, which has always held DIOK close to its heart.
Together we celebrated successes and learned from challenges. It is precisely this shared passion for rugby and for our proud and unique club that makes us stronger and connects us—on and off the field.
With confidence and enthusiasm, we look ahead to 2026: a new year full of opportunities, sporting challenges and moments that bring us even closer together as a rugby family. The new year will also be marked by our anniversary, the actions and results of the Community Committee, the wonderful developments around our new artificial turf rugby field, and further steps towards realising our great ambition for a new multifunctional clubhouse. DIOK is buzzing like never before! Always together, stronger together.
