| Beste leden, supporters, vrijwilligers en rugbyvrienden, Na een welverdiende zomerpauze is het moment eindelijk daar: het nieuwe rugbyseizoen staat voor de deur! De geur van vers gemaaid gras en de eerste tackles op de training — het rugbygevoel leeft weer volop op onze club. Ik heb tijdens de oefenwedstrijd van heren 1 en de futures hele mooie dingen gezien die mij veel vertrouwen geven voor het nieuwe seizoen
Dit seizoen belooft opnieuw bijzonder te worden. Niet alleen op sportief vlak, waar onze seniorenteams en jeugd zich vol ambitie voorbereiden op hun competities, maar ook qua clubgevoel. We blijven bouwen aan een vereniging waar iedereen zich welkom voelt, of je nu op het veld staat, langs de lijn aanmoedigt of achter de schermen meehelpt. Het seizoen staat ook in het teken van ons 11de lustrum, DIOK bestaat in 2026: 55 jaar en dat zal gevierd worden!
Speciale dank aan de vrijwilligers die vorig seizoen hun tijd en energie hebben gegeven aan onze club— zonder jullie zijn we nergens. Ook dit jaar zal het bestuur weer een beroep moeten doen aan onze leden en aan de ouders van onze jeugdleden om ons te helpen er een fantastisch mooi rugbyseizoen van te maken. Vrijwilliger bij DIOK is niet alleen noodzakelijk maar nog leuk ook! Binnenkort hier meer over.
Het bestuur heeft meer speerpunten, maar daar zult u binnenkort meer over lezen en horen.
Ikzelf zal van 3 – 17 september wegens vakantie afwezig zijn maar daarna zullen jullie mij zeer regelmatig tegenkomen op onze club en mocht je vragen of tips hebben, schiet mij aan; want alleen door een goede en actieve samenwerking kunnen wij ervoor zorgen dat RC DIOK zo’n prachtige club blijft en zelfs nog beter wordt.
Namens het bestuur wens ik iedereen een sportief, plezierig en blessurevrij seizoen toe en ik hoop iedereen snel op of naast het veld te zien.

Eerste competitiewedstrijd heren 1 en futureteam op zaterdag 6 september 2025 | Op zaterdag 6 september vindt de eerste competitiewedstrijd van het seizoen plaats. DIOK Heren 1 speelt tegen Rotterdamse RugbyClub heren 1 en ons futureteam tegen hun 2e team.
Twee spannende wedstrijden die je niet wilt missen! Kom onze teams luidkeels aanmoedigen en samen zorgen we voor een knallende seizoensstart. Voor de ijsliefhebbers zal er een ijscokar aanwezig zijn.

Enkele belangrijke wijzigingen in de wedstrijdvoorschriften | Net als elk seizoen zijn er weer een aantal wijzigingen in de wedstrijdvoorschriften. Enkele opvallende en belangrijke zijn:
- Tijdslimieten bij conversie en vormen line-out
Reden: Kortere onderbrekingen in het spel.
De tijd voor het nemen van een conversie is verminderd naar 60 seconden vanaf het moment dat de try is toegekend.
Teams moeten de line-out binnen 30 seconden na het maken van een markering, zonder vertraging vormen.
- Technische zone
De technische zone is het deel van het wedstrijdveld waar de officials (coaches, staf maar geen wisselspelers, tenzij zij tevens als waterdrager fungeren) bevinden. Bij DIOK is dat het gebied tussen beide dug-outs op veld 1 en gespiegeld op veld 2. De wisselspelers verblijven in de dug-outs of het deel richting het dichtsbij zijnde try-gebied (voor de warming up).
Dit voorschrift gold al langer voor de prestatieklasses (ereklasse, future en 1e klasse) en vanaf nu ook voor de participatieklasses (heren 3 en alle jeugdteams).

Gebruik velden voor wedstrijden en trainingen seizoen 2025-2026 | VELD 1 – HOOFDVELD Zal zoveel mogelijk worden ontlast voor gebruik voor wedstrijden in de prestatieklassen. Ook beschikbaar voor wedstrijden in de participatieklassen zolang de conditie het toelaat (veldchef bepaalt). Alleen de GTBM mogen standaard op veld 1 trainen (vanwege minimale impact). Voor de CJC teams zal gekeken worden naar een goede verdeling.
VELD 2 Geschikt voor wedstrijden van alle participatieteams. Ook geschikt voor trainingen zolang de conditie het toelaat (veldchef bepaalt).
VELD 3 Het hoofdtrainingsveld voor alle teams.
VELD 4 – BOSHUIZERKADE Als overloop voor trainingen. Bij afkeuring van onze natuurgrasvelden.
Bij onvoorzienbare of overmacht situaties bepaalt de veldchef (Timo de Jong) het gebruik van een veld, eventueel (zoals bij wedstrijden) in overleg met de wedstrijdsecretarissen.

Directe toegang naar veld 3 is gereed. | Vorige week heeft onze sponsor Van Diemen (veel dank!) een provisorisch pad aangelegd langs de sloot bij de eerste laagbouw van de 3 Octoberhal (clubhuis Gymsport Leiden) naar ons 3e veld, met een afsluitbaar hek. Het is vanaf onze parkeerplaats direct bereikbaar. We hoeven hierdoor niet meer langs de drukke Smaragdlaan om te lopen naar Sporting Leiden. In april 2026 zal een aanvang worden genomen met de sloop van de hal en bijgebouwen. Dan zal de situatie tijdelijk anders worden maar daarover volgt meer informatie tegen die tijd. |

Verkoop gebruikte sportkleding, DIOK tenues en kicks | Vanwege het succes van de kledingverkoop vorig jaar organiseren we weer een nieuwe editie! Op de zaterdagen 6 en 13 september is de kledingcommissie jeugd in het clubhuis aanwezig.
Net als de vorige keer zullen de spullen voor kleine prijsjes te koop worden aangeboden. De opbrengst komt ten goede aan de jeugdkas van DIOK.
- de kraam is open tussen 10:00 en 12: 00 uur
- er kan gepind worden aan de bar
- een greep uit het assortiment; schoenen, DIOK stropdassen, sokken, scrumcaps, thermokleding, trainingsshirts en broekjes maar ook wedstrijdkleding, in uiteenlopende maten voor GTBM en CJC maar ook volwassen maten
Als je nog kleding of schoenen hebt die goed genoeg zijn voor een tweede ronde, kun je ze doneren (mits ze schoon en heel zijn). We hopen jullie op een van de zaterdagen te zien! |

DIOK Teammanagers – bestuursleden bijeenkomst donderdag 25 september 2025 | Op donderdagavond vindt de teammanagers – bestuursleden bijeenkomst plaats. De bijeenkomst is bedoeld voor alle teammanagers van DIOK waarbij ook wederzijds kennis gemaakt kan worden met alle bestuursleden en de teammanagers (ook onderling). Onderwerpen zijn de communicatielijnen te bekorten, informatie-uitwisseling, vragen te stellen, speerpunten 2025-2026 te duiden, ontwikkelingen te schetsen etc. 🕖 Inloop en onderlinge kennismaking 19:00, 🕢 start bijeenkomst 19:30 tot 20:30. |

A word from the chairman… | Dear members, supporters, volunteers, and rugby friends, After a well-deserved summer break, the moment is finally here: the new rugby season is about to begin! The smell of freshly cut grass and the first tackles at training — the rugby spirit is alive again at our club. During the friendly match of our Men’s 1st XV and Futures, I saw many promising things that give me great confidence for the season ahead. This season promises to be special once again. Not only on the sporting side, where our senior teams and youth are preparing ambitiously for their competitions, but also in terms of club spirit. We continue to build a club where everyone feels welcome — whether you’re playing on the pitch, cheering from the sidelines, or helping behind the scenes. The season will also mark our 11th lustrum: in 2026 DIOK will celebrate 55 years — and we will celebrate it in style! A special thank you goes to all the volunteers who gave their time and energy to our club last season — without you, we wouldn’t be where we are. This year, the board will once again call on our members and the parents of our youth players to help us make it a fantastic rugby season. Being a volunteer at DIOK is not only necessary but also great fun! More on this soon. The board has several more priorities, which you will read and hear about in the near future. I will be away on holiday from September 3–17, but after that you’ll see me regularly at the club. If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to approach me — only through good and active cooperation can we ensure that RC DIOK remains such a wonderful club and becomes even better. First League Match – Men’s 1st XV and Future Team on Saturday, September 6th, 2025 | On Saturday, September 6th, the first league match of the season will take place. DIOK Men’s 1st XV will face Rotterdam Rugby Club Men’s 1st XV, and our Future Team will play against their 2nd XV. Two exciting matches you don’t want to miss! Several Important Changes in the Match Regulations | As in every season, a number of changes have been made to the match regulations. Some of the most notable and important ones are: - Time limits for conversions and forming the line-out
Reason: Shorter interruptions in the game.
The time allowed to take a conversion has been reduced to 60 seconds from the moment the try is awarded.
Teams must form the line-out within 30 seconds after the mark has been made, without delay. - Technical zone
The technical zone is the part of the field reserved for officials (coaches, staff, but no substitutes unless they are also acting as water carriers).
At DIOK, this is the area between both dugouts on field 1, and mirrored on field 2. Substitutes remain in the dugouts or in the area towards the nearest try zone (for warming up).
This regulation has already applied to the performance divisions (Ereklasse, Future, and 1st Division) and will now also apply to the participation divisions (Men’s 3rd team and all youth teams).

Use of Fields for Matches and Training – Season 2025–2026 | FIELD 1 – MAIN PITCH Will be relieved as much as possible for use in matches of the performance divisions. Also available for matches in the participation divisions as long as conditions allow (to be decided by the pitch manager). Only the GTBM are allowed to train on field 1 by default (due to minimal impact). For the CJC teams, a fair distribution will be arranged.
FIELD 2 Suitable for matches of all participation teams. Also suitable for training sessions as long as conditions allow (to be decided by the pitch manager).
FIELD 3 The main training field for all teams.
FIELD 4 – BOSHUIZERKADE Used as overflow for training sessions. In case our natural grass fields are unplayable. In unforeseen or exceptional situations, the pitch manager (Timo de Jong) will determine field use, if necessary (such as for matches) in consultation with the match secretaries.

Direct Access to Pitch 3 is Ready | Last week, our sponsor Van Diemen (many thanks!) created a temporary path along the canal next to the first low-rise building of the 3 October Hall (Gymsport Leiden clubhouse) leading to our 3rd pitch, including a lockable gate. The path is directly accessible from our parking lot, which means we no longer need to walk along the busy Smaragdlaan to reach Sporting Leiden. In April 2026, demolition of the hall and outbuildings will begin. The situation will then change temporarily, but more information will follow at that time. |

Sale of Used Sportswear, DIOK Kits and Boots | Following the success of last year’s clothing sale, we are organizing a new edition! On Saturday, September 6 and 13, the youth clothing committee will be present in the clubhouse.
Just like last time, items will be offered at low prices. All proceeds will go to the DIOK youth fund.
- The stall will be open between 10:00 and 12:00
- Payments can be made by card at the bar
- A selection of items: boots, DIOK ties, socks, scrum caps, thermal wear, training shirts and shorts, as well as match kits in a wide range of sizes for GTBM, CJC, and also adult sizes
If you still have clothing or boots in good enough condition for a second round, you can donate them (as long as they are clean and intact). We hope to see you on one of the Saturdays!
