| | Belangrijke spelregelwijziging tackle hoogte | ‼️Geldt voor heren 3 en alle jeugdspelers‼️
Vanaf 1 augustus 2024 is de tacklehoogte in de participatieklassen bij senioren en in alle jeugdcategorieën verlaagd tot onder de basis van het borstbeen.
Voortaan dienen tackles gericht te zijn onder het borstbeen op de buik of dijen, wat een aanzienlijke verandering betekent in de manier waarop het spel wordt gespeeld. In navolging van alle grote rugbylanden verlaagt ook Rugby Nederland de tackle hoogte om het spel en de sport hiermee veiliger te maken en te verbeteren.
Waarom is deze wijziging ingevoerd?
Ongeveer 70% van de hersenschuddingen ontstaan tijdens de tackle bij de tackelende spelers.
Het risico van hersenschuddingen is 4.2 keer hoger wanneer de tackelende spelers zijn/haar hoofd boven het borstbeen van de baldragende speler is tijdens de tackle.
Onderzoek door World Rugby wijst uit dat door het verlagen van de tacklehoogte een merkbare verlaging van het aantal hersenschuddingen zal ontstaan.

| | | 2 Octoburrr is het dan eindelijk weer zover. TAPTOE!!! De Taptoe wordt traditioneel gelopen op 2 oktober en vormt hiermee de aftrap van de 3 oktoberviering. De Taptoe vertrekt om exact 19:30 uur van de Kaasmarkt.
De Taptoe is de kans om onszelf als DIOK te laten zien aan de rest van Leiden. Kom allemaal (jong en oud) en natuurlijk in DIOK kleding.
We verzamelen op De Kaasmarkt tussen 18:45 en 19:00. PROBEER ER ECHT OM 19:00 te zijn!! De stoet gaat lopen om 19.30uur!
Het thema is zoals altijd “Lint van Licht”. Vanuit DIOK wordt centraal iets geregeld maar hoe meer💡 hoe beter. Dus leef je uit op allerlei lampjes en andere licht attributen!!!
Alleen bij de Guppen en de Turven wordt verzocht dat een ouder/verzorger meeloopt.
De trainersstaf loopt sowieso met de categorieën mee.
Hoe laat en waar eindigen? Tussen 21:15 en 21:30 uur is de Taptoe afgelopen. Eindpunt/ophaalpunt kids: kruispunt Geregracht/Levendaal.

Gebruik kleedkamers en materiaalopslag Boshuizerkade | Vanaf dinsdag 24 september gebruiken we de kleedkamers en materiaalopslag in het andere gebouw op het terrein (voormalig GOL-sport). Sleutel hangt in het kastje naast de deur. De teammanagers en trainers beschikken over de app om het te openen. |

Samenwerking RC DIOK met Haagse Hogeschool | Een groep studenten van de Haagse Hogeschool gaat in de komende periode spelers van het Colts team begeleiden in het onderzoeksproject Fit Focus naar het effect van - gerichte - voeding op de sportprestaties. Het onderzoek loopt van september 2024 tot eind januari 2025. Over de resultaten van het onderzoek berichten we later.

Vervolginformatie bar- en keukendienst app | De digitale bar- en keukendienst toewijzing via de app van Rugby Nederland begint goed te lopen. Uiteraard lopen we af en toe nog tegen kleine opstartzaken aan maar de DIOK afdeling ICT lost die snel op. We zijn de eerste rugbyclub die deze module gebruikt. Ook hierin loopt DIOK voorop!

Van belang is wel dat je mobiele telefoonnummer en je emailadres goed staan geregistreerd. Die kun je ook in de app checken en eventueel aanpassen bij ‘Mijn lidmaatschap’ en dan ‘profiel bewerken’. Het leuke is dat het gelijk in de ledenadministratie wordt bijgewerkt. Wel zo makkelijk.

Oproep voor periodiek hulp bij de DIOK keukenbrigade | De gastclub voor ere- en future klasse teams en staf heeft ook een taak om een heerlijke maaltijd te verzorgen voor alle deelnemende teams, coaches, officials en managers. De coördinatie van de keuken is in handen van Jacqueline van Diemen. Voor de teams die op zaterdagmiddag spelen zoeken wij DIOK leden die graag een goede maaltijd kunnen samenstellen en verzorgen voor ongeveer 110 spelers/staff en alleen wanneer er een thuiswedstrijd is. Meld je snel aan bij de keukenbrigade! Je kunt Jacqueline aanspreken op de club of je aanmelden via dit formulier. |

Oproep tot donatie: Steun Jordan bij een bijzondere uitdaging! | Een van onze eigen leden gaat binnenkort een indrukwekkende uitdaging aan om geld in te zamelen voor vier goede doelen. Vanaf 25 december zal hij hardlopend van het noordelijkste punt naar het zuidelijkste punt van Nederland gaan, een afstand van maar liefst 409 km. In slechts 6 dagen tijd zal hij dagelijks ongeveer 70 km afleggen!
Met deze enorme prestatie wil hij €10.000 ophalen voor vier goede doelen die hem na aan het hart liggen: LooseHeadz, 113 Zelfmoordpreventie, SAMH en The Jordan Legacy. Elk van deze organisaties zet zich in voor mentale gezondheid en zelfmoordpreventie.

Diok Colts eren Leidens Ontzet 1574 | Onze Colts spelers hebben afgelopen zaterdag thuis in de speciale en klassieke 3 October rugby poloshirts gespeeld tegen RC Groningen. De voorzitter van de 3 October Vereeniging, Rik Kamps, kwam samen met sponsor Ruud Breedveld naar de kick off kijken. Het was een pittige wedstrijd en helaas gingen de Groningers met de winst er vandoor maar onze dappere Geuzen mochten het unieke shirt mee naar huis nemen.

Important change in tackle height | ‼️Applies to Heren 3 and all youth players‼️
From August 1st 2024, the tackle height in the participation classes for seniors and in all youth categories has been lowered to below the base of the sternum.
From now on, tackles must be aimed below the sternum on the abdomen or thighs, which means a significant change in the way the game is played. Following the example of all major rugby countries, Rugby Netherlands is also lowering the tackle height to make the game and the sport safer and improve it.
Why was this change introduced?
Approximately 70% of concussions occur during the tackle of the tackling players. The risk of concussion is 4.2 times higher when the tackling player's head is above the sternum of the ball-carrying player during the tackle.
Research by World Rugby shows that lowering the tackle height will result in a noticeable reduction in the number of concussions.

| 2 Octoburrr it's finally time again. TAPTOE!!! The Taptoe is traditionally held on October 2 and thus marks the start of the October 3 celebrations. The Taptoe departs at exactly 19:30 from the Kaasmarkt.
The Taptoe is the chance to show ourselves as DIOK to the rest of Leiden. Everyone join us (young and old), of course in DIOK clothing.
We gather at the Kaasmarkt between 18:45 and 19:00. REALLY TRY TO BE THERE AT 19:00!! The procession will start at 19:30!
The theme is as always "Lint van Licht". Something will be arranged centrally by DIOK, but the more💡 the better. So go wild with all kinds of lights and other light attributes!!!
Only at the Guppen and the Turven is it requested that a parent/guardian walks along.
The coaching staff will walk with the categories anyway.
What time and where do we end? The Taptoe ends between 21:15 and 21:30. End point/pick-up point for kids: Geregracht/Levendaal intersection.

Use of changing rooms and material storage Boshuizerkade | From Tuesday 24 September we will use the changing rooms and material storage in the other building on the site (former GOL-sport). The key is in the little box next to the door. The team managers and coaches know how to open the box. |

Partnership RC DIOK with The Hague University of Applied Sciences | A group of students from The Hague University of Applied Sciences (Haagse Hogeschool) will be coaching players from the Colt team in the research project Fit Focus into the effect of - targeted - nutrition on sports performance. The research will run from September 2024 to the end of January 2025. We will report on the results of the research later. |

Follow-up information bar-kitchen service app | The digital bar service allocation via the Rugby Nederland app is starting to run well. Of course, we still occasionally encounter minor start-up issues, but the DIOK ICT department quickly resolves these. We are the first rugby club to use this module. DIOK is also a leader in this!

Call for periodic help at the DIOK kitchen staff | The host club for Ere- and futureklasse teams and staff also has a task to provide a delicious meal for all participating teams, coaches, officials and managers. The coordination of the kitchen is in the hands of Jacqueline van Diemen. For the teams that play on Saturday afternoon we are looking for two DIOK members who would like to put together and provide a good meal for approximately 110 players/staff and only when there is a home game. Register quickly with the kitchen brigade! You can speak to Jacqueline at the club or apply via this form. |

Call for donations: Support Jordan in a special challenge! | One of our own members will soon take on an impressive challenge to raise money for four charities. From December 25, he will run from the northernmost point to the southernmost point of the Netherlands, a distance of no less than 409 km. In just 6 days, he will cover approximately 70 km per day!
With this enormous achievement, he wants to raise €10,000 for four charities that are close to his heart: LooseHeadz, 113 Suicide Prevention, SAMH and The Jordan Legacy. Each of these organizations is committed to mental health and suicide prevention.

Diok Colts honor Leidens Ontzet 1574 | Our Colts players played a home game in the special and classic 3 October rugby polo shirts against RC Groningen last Saturday. The chairman of the 3 October Vereeniging, Rik Kamps, came to watch the kick-off together with sponsor Ruud Breedveld. It was a tough match and unfortunately the Groningers won, but our brave Geuzen were allowed to take the unique shirt home with them.
