| | Vertrek voorzitter Edwin Verver | Om persoonlijke redenen heeft onze voorzitter, Edwin Verver, zijn taken als voorzitter van onze club neergelegd. Wij bedanken Edwin voor al het werk dat hij voor onze vereniging en het Leidse rugby heeft verricht en wensen hem uiteraard het allerbeste toe.
Overige mutaties bestuur: Andy Brees en Arwin Akse hebben vanwege drukte hun bestuursfuncties ter beschikking gesteld. Arwin zal tot de ALV in juni formeel aanblijven als secretaris en zal worden waargenomen door Marcel Colijn. | | Alle DIOK kampioenen op een rij | Afgelopen seizoen is een enorm succesvol seizoen geweest voor onze mooie club. Alle speelsters en staff hebben weer alles gegeven om een mooi resultaat neer te zetten waar we als club enorm trots op kunnen zijn. Bij deze onze kampioenen op een rij:
- De Heren 1 zijn kampioen geworden van de Trophy Poule na een ontzettend spannende pot tegen RC The Dukes.
- Onze dames hebben na een harde pot de finale om het landskampioenschap helaas verloren, maar wij zijn net zo trots op hun met de 2e plek van NL!
- De Junioren zijn kampioen geworden van de Plate, dat belooft veel goeds voor volgend seizoen.
Dus aan ieder van hen: gefeliciteerd!! | | | | | | | | In de laatste week van de maand juni 2024 zal de jaarlijkse Algemene ledenvergadering worden gehouden. Meer informatie en de agenda volgen voordien. | | | Op zaterdag 15 juni 2024 vindt het jaarlijkse Spelersgala senioren weer plaats, waarbij de senioren een mooi seizoen gezamenlijk af kunnen sluiten. Uiteraard worden dan ook de awards weer uitgereikt voor onder andere de Speler/Speelster van het jaar. Het gala begint om 20.00 uur en is uiteraard 18+ (enkel senioren). Trek je mooiste kleren aan :-). | | Isa Prins speelster van het jaar Rugby Nederland | Zowel Lisa Boot als Isa Prins waren genomineerd door Rugby Nederland als speelster van het seizoen 2023-2024. Dat is natuurlijk al een super prestatie van beide dames. Uiteindelijk is de keuze op Isa Prins gevallen. Dus namens de hele club: gefeliciteerd met deze mooie award! | | | Opzeggen of wijzigen lidmaatschap DIOK | Opzeggingen voor het nieuwe seizoen moeten vóór 15 juni van het lopende seizoen gedaan zijn. Het opzeggen van het lidmaatschap dient schriftelijk te gebeuren dit kan door een brief te sturen naar onze ledenadministratie (Smaragdlaan 101, 2332 JP Leiden t.a.v. de ledenadministratie) of per e-mail aan ledenadministratie@diokrugby.nl.
Indien niet voor 15 juni is opgezegd wordt voor het gehele nieuwe seizoen de contributie in rekening gebracht.
Wijzigingen ook tijdig doorgeven, bijvoorbeeld van volledig lidmaatschap naar recreant. Met een recreant lidmaatschap kun je alsnog zes competitiewedstrijden spelen. | | | Op de uitnodiging voor de wedstrijd voor de mooiste wedstrijdfoto van het seizoen in te sturen is goed gevolg gegeven. Er zijn ca. 40 foto’s ingestuurd van heel veel teams. Uit deze inzendingen zal de winnende foto op de Spelersgala worden onthuld. Deze foto zal een seizoen lang in de grote lijst met trots prijken. | | Donatie uit de Six Nation Poule | Piers Tolson heeft een bedrag van 400 euro uit de poule van de Six Nation 2024 gedoneerd aan DIOK. De club is hier zeer blij mee en bedankt Piers voor deze prachtige bijdrage waarmee de club extra materiaal kan aanschaffen voor de jeugdteams. | | | De jongsten onder ons zijn klaar met spelen in het district, maar hebben al wel een aantal toernooitjes achter de rug en nog een paar in het verschiet. De Benjamins reisden af naar Oisterwijk voor het traditionele moederdagtoernooi en zijn met één team tijdens Pinksteren afgereisd naar Frankrijk, de Turven zijn de tel kwijt hoeveel tags ze hebben tijdens het turventoernooi en de Mini’s waren getuige van het ontsteken van het bevrijdingsvuur in Wageningen. De TBM bereidt zich nu voor op zand tussen de tenen op 1 en 22 juni.
De tweedejaars van iedere categorie zijn begonnen met het meetrainen met hun categorie waar ze na de zomer bij gaan horen. Beetje spannend, maar superleuk! De Guppen zijn druk bezig met de voorbereidingen van de shirt ceremonie 😊.
We lusten jullie rauw We lusten jullie rauw was het antwoord van de Mini’s nadat ze door de Heren 1 werden uitgedaagd voor een potje rugby.
De Mini’s hebben woensdag 22 mei tegen Heren 1 gespeeld. Het was een spannend potje. Je kon merken dat de Heren 1 het weekend ervoor een belangrijke wedstrijd had gespeeld want ze maakten toch wel wat slordigheidsfoutjes en de snelheid ontbrak soms. Een deel van de Mini’s was net terug van hun toernooi in Béthune, Frankrijk – waar ze het hoogst geëindigde Nederlands team werden. De mini’s waren in staat om snel te schakelen, zij hadden nog nooit een line-out met lift gedaan, maar lieten deze toch zien.
Niet alleen was dit bijzonder mooi rugby tussen deze 2 categorieën, het was ook echt genieten van de hele sfeer op de club met al die kids op deze woensdagavond. Dankjewel!
Laten we deze sfeer ook vasthouden op de zaterdagochtend voor de Guppen. Kijk even achterom als je het clubhuis verlaat op de vrijdag. | |

| | Departure of chairman Edwin Verver | For personal reasons, our chairman, Edwin Verver, has resigned from his duties as chairman of our club. We thank Edwin for all the work he has done for our association and Leiden rugby and of course wish him all the best.
Other board changes: Andy Brees and Arwin Akse have made their management positions available due to busy times. Arwin will formally remain as secretary until the AGM in June and will be replaced by Marcel Colijn. | | | Last season was a hugely successful season for our beautiful club. All players and staff have once again given everything to achieve a great result that we as a club can be extremely proud of. Here is our champions at a glance:
- The Men 1 became champions of the Trophy Pool after an incredibly exciting match against RC The Dukes.
- Our ladies unfortunately lost the final for the national championship after a hard match, but we are just as proud of them with the 2nd place in NL!
- The Juniors have become Plate champions, which bodes well for next season.

More information and the agenda will follow later. | | | The annual Senior Players Gala will take place again on Saturday, June 15, 2024, where the seniors can end a great season together. Of course, the awards will be presented again for, among other things, the Player of the Year. The gala starts at 8 p.m. and is of course 18+ (seniors only). Wear your nicest clothes :-). | | Isa Prins player of the year Rugby Netherlands | Both Lisa Boot and Isa Prins were nominated by Rugby Netherlands as player of the 2023-2024 season. That is of course a great achievement for both ladies. Ultimately the choice fell on Isa Prins. So on behalf of the entire club: congratulations on this beautiful award! | | | Cancel or change DIOK membership | Cancellations for the new season must be made before June 15 of the current season. Cancellation of membership must be done in writing. This can be done by sending a letter to our membership administration (Smaragdlaan 101, 2332 JP Leiden, attention to the membership administration) or by e-mail to: ledenadministratie@diokrugby.nl.
If cancellation is not made before June 15, membership fees will be charged for the entire new season.
Also report changes in a timely manner, for example from full membership to recreational. With a recreational membership you can still play six competition matches. | | | The invitation to submit the most beautiful competition photo of the season was duly accepted. Approximately 40 photos were submitted from many teams. From these entries, the winning photo will be revealed at the Players' Gala. This photo will proudly adorn the large frame for a season. | | Donation from the Six Nation Pool | Piers Tolson has donated an amount of 400 euros from the group of the Six Nation 2024 to DIOK. The club is very happy with this and thanks Piers for this wonderful contribution with which the club can purchase additional material for the youth teams. | | | The youngest among us have finished playing in the district, but have already completed a number of tournaments and have a few more to come. The Benjamins traveled to Oisterwijk for the traditional Mother's Day tournament and traveled to France with one team during Pentecost, the Turven lost count of how many tags they had during the peat tournament and the Minis witnessed the lighting of the liberation fire in Wageningen. The TBM is now preparing for sand between the toes on June 1 and 22.
The second-year students from each category have started training with their category to which they will belong after the summer. A bit exciting, but super fun! The Guppies are busy preparing for the shirt ceremony 😊.

‘We will eat you up’ was the response from the Minis after they were challenged by the Men 1 to a game of rugby.
The Minis played against Men 1 on Wednesday, May 22. It was an exciting game. You could tell that the Men 1 had played an important match the weekend before because they made some careless mistakes and the speed was sometimes lacking. Some of the Minis had just returned from their tournament in Béthune, France - where they became the highest-ranking Dutch team. The minis were able to switch quickly, they had never done a line-out with a lift, but showed it anyway.
Not only was this very nice rugby between these 2 categories, it was also really enjoyable the whole atmosphere at the club with all those kids on this Wednesday evening. Thank you!
Let us also maintain this atmosphere on Saturday morning for the Guppen. Take a look behind you when you leave the clubhouse on Friday. | |
